Setting up a Second Email Box

If you have another email address (box) that you would like to receive mail on, you can setup your system to check mail on both (multiple) accounts. Outlook or Outlook Express users can simply follow the directions for configuring Outlook Express except you will be adding an additional box. After you are done, go to the properties of each box and name them with your account name so you can keep them seperate.

Netscape users need to create another profile. To do so you will have to exit Netscape if it is open.
1. Click Start/Programs/Netscape Communicator/Utilities/User Profile Manager. 2. Click New to add another profile then follow the wizard using the settings in the Netscape Email Configuration instructions, starting on No. 4.

Common Email Problems

If you are having problems with connecting to the Internet, please follow the Common Internet Problems instructions. If you know you are connecting to the Internet but are just having problems with your email, please continue.

1. Ensure your username and password are spelled correctly and in all lowercase letters. A very common problem is that the "Caps Lock" key is on when typing in the password. Ensure your "Caps Lock" light is not lit.
2. Check you server settings. Follow the instructions for Netscape or Outlook as appropriate. You can follow through the settings and ensure you have what they are supposed to be. Pay particular attention to the server name spelling.

Common Internet Problems

The first step is getting connected. If you are connected to the Internet you will see an icon in the taskbar (by your clock) in the lower right hand corner of the screen. The icon usually looks like two computer screens flashing green on and off or a little box with two lights that flash red and green. If you double click this icon, a screen will show you that you are connected, and at what speed.

If you are connected, but are unable to navigate anywhere, there are a few things to check.
1. If you are trying to go to a particular address but receive the 404 error, or "this page is unable to be displayed" then check the spelling of the address. Try going to another site, www.cabelas.com or www.espn.com. If you are able to go to one of these sites then the address is wrong, mistyped, or their server is down.
2. Check your DNS server settings. Go to My Computer/Dial-Up Networking then right click on the icon for custer telephone, cyberhighway, my connection (or whichever you use to connect) and choose properties. Go through the Internet Settings and ensure they are correct.

If you aren't even connecting to the Internet:
1. Ensure your username and password are spelled correctly and in all lowercase letters. A very common problem is that the "Caps Lock" key is on when typing in the password. Ensure your "Caps Lock" light is not lit.
2. Go to My Computer/Dial-Up Networking then right click on the icon for custer telephone or my connection (or whichever you use to connect) and choose properties. Go through the Internet Settings and ensure they are correct.
